The previous three albums have all been quite serious, restrained selections, but sometimes you just need some big, bold and brash tunage that’s not afraid to have fun. Madeon’s style of Electronic Dance Music fits the bill perfectly with its euphoric melodies, catchy hooks, phat beats and a nice mix of vocals and instrumentals. I like the slightly slower pace than a lot of EDM, and of course the little 8-bit sounds are a welcome bonus. The Deluxe version includes six extra tracks, and whilst they make album drag slightly, tracks like ‘Icarus’, ‘Finale’ and ‘The City’ are not to be missed. It’s a shame the tracklisting couldn’t have been tweaked for a really good 40 minute album!
