Albums of the Year 2015 – Round Up

Round-up post with the best of the rest from last year.

– Carpenter Brut – Trilogy A compilation featuring EPIII from 2015 as well as EPI & II from 2014. Techno, Electro and Italo-Disco and Horror Movie Soundtracks all rolled into one.
– Kelela – Hallucinogen Dark and sexy electronic R&B with a catchy little dance-pop number (Rewind) thrown in for good measure.
– Linkwood – Expressions Quality melodic techno and atmospheric electronica.
– Keenhouse – A Future Past A spaced out mixture of jazzy new-age grooves and catchy synth-pop tunes.
– Mark Ronson – Uptown Special Uptown Funk was obviously everywhere all year, but tracks like Heavy and Rolling, Summer Breaking and Daffodils were all great in a smooth late ’70s pop-rock sort of way.
– Disclosure – Caracal A solid selection of songs written to a house music beat. Collaborations a-plenty but Jaded is probably my personal favourite.
– Snoop Dogg – Bush I checked this one out when somebody named The City “Best backing track that would sound great in a Streets of Rage level”. With Chad Hugo & Pharrell Williams on production, this sounds like a smooth N.E.R.D. album with extra Snoop.
– Dam-Funk – Invite the Light A bit patchy, perhaps, but the good stuff is definitely worth your time. Electro-Funk is still alive in 2015!
