Albums of the Year 2015 – Bjorn Torske – Nedi Myra

3. Bjorn Torske – Nedi Myra

This debut long player from Norway’s Bjorn Torske was originally released in 1998, but was remastered and rereleased in 2015 by Smalltown Supersound. I’d never heard any of it before, despite being familiar with a few of Bjorn’s singles/remixes. It’s a real melting pot of styles and influences – Disco, House, Techno, Ambient, Electro and even Bossa-Nova are all woven together as only the Scandinavian’s seem able to. Seventeen years is a long time in electronic music, genres have come and gone in less time, but there’s no fads or gimmicks here, just timeless dance grooves for the ages.

Sounds like one of those lazy mid-’90s evenings when you’d put on Radio One on a whim and find John Peel’s been replaced by a random DJ session of stuff you’ll never hear again. In a good way!
